Plan your wedding without the stress
Casey is Bedroom Studio’s wedding production coordinator. She has helped plan more than 1,000 weddings, so she has seen what makes a day feel easy, and what makes it stressful.
This free course takes you from “we’re engaged” to the week after the wedding in ten stages, in the order that saves the most stress. Every lesson is a few minutes long and ends with one small task in your planner.
You don’t need to book us to use it. It’s for every couple.
Stage 1
You’re engaged
1.1How to plan without the stressMost wedding stress comes from making big decisions in the wrong order. Start with three: budget, guest count and date. This course takes you through every stage in ten short steps, each ending with one small task in your planner.1 min1.2Your wedding in three wordsDecide how you want your wedding to feel before you choose anything else. Each write three words, compare them, and keep them at the top of your plan as the test for every later decision.1 min1.3What matters most to you bothRank what matters most, each of you separately, then compare. Your shared top three get the most budget and attention; your shared bottom three are where you can save. Your planner uses the ranking to suggest a budget split.1 min

2.1Setting a budget you'll stick toAgree who is contributing and how much, set one total, and keep a buffer for surprises. A clear number now makes every later decision faster.1 min2.2Where the money goesVenue, food and drink usually take the biggest share. Your planner suggests a split based on your stage 1 priorities, and you can move money between categories.1 min2.3The costs couples forgetTravel fees, early starts, cake-cutting fees, supplier meals and deposits catch couples out. Guest list
3.1Building your guest listWrite everyone down, sort them into groups, then make an A-list and a B-list. Decide early on children and plus-ones so the rules are the same for everyone.1 min3.2How guest numbers change everythingEvery guest adds to food, drinks and the size of venue you need. Pick a target number before you look at venues, and your planner shows what it means for your budget.1 min3.3Save the datesSend save the dates once your date and venue are set, earlier for long weekends or weddings guests travel to. Date and venue
4.1Choosing your season and dateEach season brings different weather, light and prices. Saturdays in spring and autumn book first; Fridays, Sundays and winter dates give you more choice and often better value.1 min4.2Finding your venueStart from your three words and guest count. Decide between an all-inclusive venue and a dry-hire space, then shortlist three to five from our venue guides.1 min4.3Venue visits: what to askAsk every venue the same questions: capacity, wet-weather plan, music finish time, preferred suppliers and exactly what the price includes. Then compare side by side.1 min4.4Booking your venueRead the contract before you pay: what the deposit secures, the payment dates, and what happens if you need to postpone or cancel. Once booked, your whole plan follows your date.1 min

Your first suppliers
5.1Who to book first and whyOnce your date is set, book the suppliers who can only do one wedding a day and book out earliest: photographer, videographer, celebrant, and your band or DJ.1 min5.2Choosing your photographer and videographerLook past the highlights: ask for full galleries from weddings like yours, check how they work with couples on the day, and compare what is included. If you'd like Bedroom Studio to be one you compare, you can check your date in the planner.1 min5.3Choosing your celebrantMeet two or three celebrants, ideally watching them run a ceremony on video. Check they are an authorised marriage celebrant, and ask about meetings, rehearsal and sound.1 min5.4Comparing quotes fairlyLine quotes up like for like: hours, what is included, travel and extras. Ask about deposits, payment dates and cancellation before you pay anything.1 min
Stage 6
The look
6.1Dresses and suitsMade-to-order gowns can take six months or more, then two or three fittings. Book suit fittings for the whole wedding party early, and dance in your outfit before the day.1 min6.2Flowers and stylingDesign flowers around your venue and season. Ceremony flowers can often move to the reception. At dry-hire venues, a stylist turns an empty space into your wedding.1 min6.3Hair and makeupBook a trial a few months out and test it in daylight and with flash. Your artist builds the morning's schedule; finish at least 30–45 minutes before you need to leave.1 min
Stage 7
The ceremony
7.1The legal bitsGive your celebrant a Notice of Intended Marriage at least one month and no more than 18 months before the wedding. On the day you need the legal words, two witnesses aged 18 or over, and signed certificates.1 min7.2Writing your ceremony and vowsA ceremony usually runs 20–30 minutes: your story, a reading or two, your vows and the legal words. Write your vows privately, keep them to a minute or two, and practise out loud.1 min7.3Ceremony flowPlan who walks when and to which song, ask your celebrant to step aside for the first kiss, and ask guests to put phones away for an unplugged ceremony.1 min
Stage 8
The reception
8.1Food, drinks and the cakePlated meals keep the night on time; shared plates feel generous; food trucks suit casual weddings but take longer to serve. Check drinks rules with your venue, and feed your suppliers.1 min8.2Music, speeches and the dance floorChoose a band, a DJ or both, and an MC to keep the night on time. Keep speeches to a few minutes each, ideally between courses, and open the dance floor while your photographer is still there.1 min
Stage 9
The day itself
9.1Building your day timelineWork back from your ceremony time and forward to the last dance. Add travel between places and a buffer before every move, and send the timeline to every supplier.1 min9.2Light, sunset and your photosPlan couple photos for the hour before sunset. Keep group photos to a short list of combinations, done straight after the ceremony, with a family member who knows everyone.1 min9.3Who does what on the dayChoose one person, a coordinator or a trusted friend, to run the day so you don't have to. Give them the run sheet and every supplier's contact.1 min
Stage 10
The final month and after
10.1The final monthConfirm final numbers, finish seating, pay what is due and check in with every supplier. Your planner lists it all with dates.1 min10.2The week of the weddingHand off what you can, pack early, and plan real rest. The day before is for people, not jobs.1 min10.3After the weddingSend thank-yous within a few weeks, change your name if you're changing it, and plan what to do with your photos and film so they don't stay on a hard drive.1 min
