Lesson notes

Dresses and suits

Stage six is the look. First, what you will wear.

Start early

Start early. Made-to-order gowns can take six months or more to arrive, and then you need two or three fittings for alterations. Ask the boutique for the lead time before you fall in love.

Hire, buy or tailor

For suits, hire is easiest for a whole wedding party, and tailoring fits best in photos. Book everyone's fittings early. People travel and get busy.

Move in it

At a fitting, move in it. Sit, hug, walk and dance. You will do all of that on the day. And if you have a long train, plan a bustle so you can dance without anyone stepping on it.
