The legal bits

Stage seven is your ceremony. First, the legal bits, which are simpler than they sound.

Notice of Intended Marriage

You must give your celebrant a Notice of Intended Marriage at least one month, and no more than eighteen months, before the wedding. Your celebrant helps you fill it in and lodges it.

Words, witnesses, signatures

On the day, your ceremony includes some legal words, and you sign the marriage certificates in front of two witnesses aged eighteen or over. Choose your witnesses ahead of time.
