About Fort Scratchley
Fort Scratchley is a historic fort on the hill above Nobbys Beach and the harbour entrance in Newcastle East, run by the City of Newcastle. The views take in the harbour, Nobbys headland and the ocean.
Ceremony and reception
Ceremonies are held in the grounds, with the ceremony slot from 4pm (outside opening hours, only with a reception booked). The function centre seats about 120 or takes 200 cocktail style. The wet-weather option is confirmed in the week before the wedding.
Photo spots we look for
Old cannons and sandstone walls, the harbour mouth with ships coming in, and Nobbys and the breakwall below for golden-hour portraits.

When can ceremonies be held?
The ceremony slot starts at 4pm. Outside the Fort’s opening hours, ceremonies are only available with a reception booked.
