As photographers, we love its versatility — whether it’s sunlit celebrations under the trees or golden-hour portraits on the cliff tops, every image feels timeless and natural.
About King Edward Park
King Edward Park is a heritage park on the clifftops of Newcastle, with sweeping lawns, big old trees and its iconic rotunda. It is a beautiful choice for a garden ceremony within walking distance of the city and the coast.
Booking a ceremony
Ceremonies in parks the City of Newcastle owns or manages need council approval first. Bring your approval document on the day. Shelters can’t be booked exclusively and stay open to the public, and receptions aren’t permitted in open spaces. Contact the council’s events team about availability, guest numbers and fees.
Photo spots we look for
Shade under the trees for the ceremony, the rotunda for something classic, and the clifftops for golden hour over the ocean. Michael & Isaac married here before their reception at Novotel Newcastle Beach.

Do we need approval to marry in the park?
Yes. Ceremonies in council parks need prior approval from the City of Newcastle.
Can we have our reception there?
No. Council doesn’t permit receptions in open spaces.
