How we plan a day

Build the day around the ceremony

Everything else moves; the ceremony rarely does. We count the morning back from it and the afternoon on from it, which is exactly what the planner above does.

Give the portraits the sunset

The hour before sunset is the softest light of the day. In summer that can mean portraits after the reception entrance, so we steal you away for fifteen minutes.

Keep the family list short

Eight to ten groups is plenty. Write the list down, give it to a loud cousin, and we will have you done in half an hour.

Pad everything

Hair and makeup run late, cars take longer than the map says, and guests want a hug. Fifteen spare minutes before the ceremony is the difference between calm and rushed.

A first look buys you the afternoon

If you see each other before the ceremony, most of the portraits are done early and you can go straight to the canapés with your guests.

Tell your suppliers

Send the timeline to your celebrant, venue coordinator, hair and makeup, cars and us. One version, everyone on the same page.

Questions

How is sunset worked out?

From your wedding date and the area you choose, to the minute, in Sydney time (daylight saving included). It is the same sum the weather bureau uses. Across an area like the Hunter Valley it varies by a minute or two.

What time should our ceremony start?

About three hours before sunset gives you the ceremony, family photos and portraits in good light with time to spare. The planner tells you when sunset is, so try a few ceremony times and watch where the portraits land.

Can we change the steps?

Yes. Change the name or the length of any step and the day re-flows around the ceremony. Reset the steps puts the defaults back.

Is our timeline saved?

It lives in the link. Copy the link to come back to it or share it with your suppliers; nothing is stored on our side.

Will you help us with the timeline?

Yes. Every Bedroom Studio couple plans their day with Casey, our wedding production coordinator. Send us your draft with the button above and we will go through it together.
